So, you want to learn more about me? Well, welcome to the party (of one)!
My name is Elias Lee Haas, and I was born as Elisha Leigh Haas. I’m a female to male transgender individual and I identify as a demi-asexual. I was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia where I spent the majority of twenty-eight years (with a brief stint in Phoenix, Arizona when I was eighteen). I have piercings and tattoos with intentions to get more of both. I recently moved (in November) just outside of Boston, Massachusetts to live with my sister and brother-in-law. They took me in when I needed somewhere new to go, and I am forever in their debt. I have three cats here with me in MA and I have a snake named Bellatrix Lesnake down in WV, staying with my best friend.
I’ve always been told “home is where the heart is” but I don’t believe that. My home is where the mountain ranges touch the sky, but my heart belongs to the sea.
I didn’t always know who I was; it’s taken years to get to this point in my life where I can be comfortable in my own skin and cherish the body that I have. For the longest time, I believed I was just a bisexual woman. I married a man in 2015, but we separated in 2019 and ultimately divorced in 2020. Now he’s my best friend in the whole world and I wouldn’t be here without him!
In May of 2020, during the height of the pandemic, I came out as a lesbian. I saw a video that broke down everything that I felt in my life, and I realized why I had such a strong attraction to women and not so much with men. It’s because I was gay. In December 2020, I came out as non-binary and in May of 2021, I came out as FTM transgender. I started my hormone replacement therapy in September of last year and I’ve been happier ever since!
The LGBTQ+ community of Cumberland, MD helped me come out of my shell and learn to accept myself as I am. Except for the COVID Pride, I have been to every Pride Festival they hold!
